MODEL UNITED NATIONS

“Inclusion is not tolerance. It is unquestioned acceptance.” – Aldis Hodge

In tandem with the same, this year’s edition of CJCMUN revolves around it’s central theme of “Catalysing Change: Inclusion and sustenance,”a line of thought that is in itself inclusive of various facets. Ours is a fast changing world, one that has been taking great leaps technologically, but comparatively smaller steps in terms ofour mindset. Discrimination in its various forms, whether based on race, sex, religion or disabilities are still very much prevalent today. Besides this, we are also faced with the rising disparity between economically backward countries and the so called ‘developed’ nations as a result of which, under-representation in the United Nations is now a serious problem. In order to facilitate the sustained relevance of the UN, it is imperative to address the growing oligarchy that has placed unchecked power in a few hands. This must be done by creating a level playing field for all countries and promoting a participatory and collaborative system. Keeping this in mind, CJCMUN 2019 aims to sensitise our youthon these pressing issues, paving way for them to become the catalysts of change.

This year’s conference, like all the others before it, will host a variety of dynamic and riveting committees with agendas as relevant and significant as the theme. From unconventional committees like the Historic Economic Crisis Committee, 1930 (HECC) to the more prosaic committees like the UN Security Council, CJCMUN 2019 will cater to the needs and interests of first-timers and seasoned munners alike. Each committee will tackle challenging issues that haven’t been satisfactorily addressed in the real world, necessitating innovative and out of the box solutions on the part of the young minds attending the conference.

CJCMUN 2019 will be held on the 24th, 25th and 26th of October.
